    How it Works: The high quality automatic mechanism consists of an aluminum case which surrounds a moveable drop-bar seal. The drop-bar seal is actuated by a plunger which contacts the door frame jamb as the door is closing, forcing the drop-bar seal down against the floor / threshold. The plunger requires low "Feather Touch" closing force to actuate the drop-bar seal. The seal drops to fill gaps up to 3/4". The mechanism causes the seal to always actuate on the hinge side first, which prevents the seal from skidding along the floor/threshold while the door is being closed (See Application Tab). Door hang-up will not occur!

    EPDM vs. PemkoPrene™: When choosing a seal it is essential to determine the purpose for sealing and the floor surface beneath the seal. 

    • EPDM is comparable to Sponge Neoprene, though it is more Eco-Friendly and delivers an overall better performance. Specifically, it has great sound control properties and is resistant to solvents.
    • PemkoPrene™ has a multi-point compression design which works great on uneven surfaces such as a tiled floor or carpet. PemkoPrene™ is not a firm seal which allows for more leniencies. Both options remain effective in a wide range of temperatures and can be used on external doors.

    Installation: This automatic door bottom is fully mortised, and will not be seen on the face of the door, making it ideal for high end, luxurious doors. It is non-handed (reversible) and can be applied to both wood or metal doors. Size of casing differs depending on the length, please review product specs. 

    Installation instructions, end plates and installation screws provided. Screws are colored to coordinate with casing.

    Seal Replacement: Seals are manufactured to last through many usages, however if required, a replacement seal can be purchased, which eliminates the need to replace the whole door bottom. See our Pemko Automatic Door Bottom Replacement Seal.

    Threshold Seal

    Comments about Pemko #434 Automatic Door Bottom, Mortised, Heavy Duty, with Choice of Seals - .75" Drop

    Works as indicated. Only issue is it drops down and catches the edge of my threshold. This is not against the function of the device but more my issue with the threshold being higher than the floor so the seal catches the edge when closing.
