This heavy duty automatic door bottom has a drop-down seal which is lowered two nylon brush seals when the door is closed to prevent light, sound, fire, smoke, dust, and insects from seeping through the gap under doors. Designed to be surface mounted or semi-mortised applied to the face of the door.
Seal: Fitted with a double nylon brush seal. The brush conforms well to surface irregularities and can be used on uneven surfaces, such as tiles or a carpeted area. A metal bar prevents bristles from lowering too much and crimping.
Mounting: This automatic door bottom can be installed in a surface mounted or semi-mortised application. For a semi-mortised application it requires a cut-out of .906” (W) x 1.781” (H).
Installation: Installation instructions, screws and end plates provided. Screws are colored to coordinate with casing.

The high quality automatic mechanism consists of an aluminum case which surrounds a moveable drop-bar seal. The drop-bar seal is actuated by a plunger which contacts the door jamb as the door is closing, forcing the drop-bar seal down against the floor / threshold. The plunger requires low "Feather Touch" closing force to actuate the drop-bar seal. The plunger causes the seal to always actuate on the hinge side first, which prevents the seal from skidding along the floor/threshold while the door is being closed. Door hang-up will not occur!

Pre-purchase questions were answered promptly and delivery time was average, however the item was broken when received. I was required to send pictures and a narrative of the defective item to prove my claim. A new unit was sent. 2 stars for poor quality control.
