This Vinyl Top Threshold for residential doorways is a threshold and door bottom seal all in one. Its modern design lends a contemporary look to any standard doorway. It permits a smooth transition between flooring surfaces.
Upon closing, the door compresses the vinyl bulb to create a solid seal for beneath–the–door gaps. This inhibits the infiltration of drafts, fire, sound, light, moisture, and insects under the door and eliminates the need for door sweeps and door shoes. Product has a strong aluminum casing and is custom cut to size.
Key features of this product include:
Dimensions: The aluminum casing measures 3.25” wide and .5” tall. The compressible vinyl top seal extends an additional .25”, bringing the total height to .75" (see product specs). Maximum clearance between door and threshold is .25".
Energy Conservation: A proper door seal such as this vinyl top threshold prevents the passage of outside drafts beneath the door, which significantly reduces energy waste and lowers the cost of cooling and heating.
Aluminum Finish: Available in aluminum mill finish, dark bronze anodized aluminum, and gold anodized aluminum.
Seal: The top seal is made of Flexible Vinyl, better known as PVC. Flexible PVC is a thermoplastic polymer material that is widely used in the construction industry largely because it is inexpensive and durable. The material has good chemical resistance to adhesives and most mild cleaning solutions but has limited ultraviolet and weather resistance.
Installation guide and screws provided. Screws are colored to blend unobtrusively with casing.
