    About Heavy Duty Plain Bearing Hinges: Plain bearing hinges feature knuckles that move against each other without additional bearings. The Heavy Duty hinges have a thicker leaf than standard residential plain bearing hinges, they are designed for heavier residential use / light commercial use and not recommended for heavy traffic entryways. For heavy traffic, consider a Ball Bearing Hinge.

    About the Material: Solid Brass is made of copper and zinc and is popular due to its aesthetics, resilience and durability. It is highly resistant to rusting and is available in a large variety of finishes. However it is significantly more expensive than its steel and stainless steel counterparts. 

    Installation: This hinge is fully mortised. Three hinges should be used on doors up to 90". Add one additional hinge per each additional 30" of door height.

    Corners: This hinge is designed with a 5/8" radius corner, also popular for fully mortised hinges are square corners and 1/4" radius hinges.

    Good heavy duty hinges for heavy doors.

    Comments about Emtek 96234 Brass Heavy Duty, Plain Bearing, 4" x 4", 5/8" Radius Hinge - PAIRS

    After wasting money on other hinges these turned out to be heavy duty enough to bring my exterior door back into square and plumb. I did have to router the frame and door because these hinges are thicker than the original (and first replacement) hinges but it was well worth the effort. I don't see these hinges bending and allowing the door to sag again.
