This Automatic Door Bottom is designed for use in a EMI / RFI (Electromagnetic Interference / Radio Frequency Interference) Door Sealing System that blocks electromagnetic and radio frequency interference at door openings. The system has practical applications for laboratories, hospitals, brokerage houses, embassies, and rooms in companies using sensitive electronic equipment.

Product Features Include:

Coating: The aluminum casing has a chromate conversion coating finish (MIL-C5541 CLASS III) to ensure maximum electrical conductivity across the gasket-flange interface. This coating also keeps the metal from forming an insulating oxide film that might act to break the circuit.

Casing: The casing for this Automatic Door Bottom is surface mounted and is .916" W x 1.901" H. It has a bronze spring interior.

Seal: Solid carbon-filled silicone rubber gaskets complete the electrical circuit while forming a tight seal against the saddle. It is recommended this product be used in conjunction with our Low Profile Bronze Rubber Seal Threshold.

Complete Your Sealing System: The EMI / RFI Sealing System is comprised of an additional Z19W Metal Weatherstrip, Z950 Cam Lift Hinge, Z770EMI Door Gasket and Z564 Door Saddle. See 'Complete System' Tab our EMI / RFI Sealing System Page for more details.

How it Works

Automatic Door Bottoms utilize a concealed flat spring mechanism and plunger. When the door is closed, a brass plunger is compressed to automatically lower the seal, starting from the hinge side first. This motion ensures a smooth usage even on an uneven surface and prevents drag. The seal is automatically raised upon opening. These automatic door bottoms have been successfully tested through 5 million cycles!

Tested in accordance with requirements of MIL-STD-285 (ATTENUATION MEASUREMENT FOR ENCLOSURES, ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING) and NSA SPECIFICATIONS 73-2A performed for electric field attenuation over the frequency range 10 MHz to 1 GHz.

The EMI / RFI (Electromagnetic Interference / Radio Frequency Interference) Sealing System is designed to block electromagnetic and radio frequency interference at door openings. The system has practical applications for laboratories, hospitals, brokerage houses, embassies, and rooms in companies using sensitive electronic equipment.

The system combines the following products:

Bronze Spring Weatherstrip (Z19WB): A bronze spring weatherstrip is applied around the jambs, head and under the door.
Cam Lift Hinges (ZZ950): Cam Lift Hinges drop the door when closed for a tight seal around the door frame. Available for doors of various weights.
Irridate Finish Door Gasket with Electrically Conductive Seal (Z770EMI): Applied along the head and jambs of the door. The seal compresses against the door to ensure a proper seal. Coming soon to website, available for purchase through our office.
Irrdiate Finish Automatic Door Bottom with Electrically Conductive Seal (Z365EMI): Seals the bottom of the door automatically when the door is closed. Seal rests against doorway threshold.
Bronze Doorway Threshold with Rubber Seal (Z564B): Applied along the bottom of the door. The Automatic Door Bottom seal rests againt upper saddle and rubber seal of threshold compresses against face of the door. Ground wire and shielded connector can be purchased through our office.

All products are adjustable to ensure a proper seal at all times, to compensate for misalignment that may occur naturally when the door warps, or from improper installation.
